How to sign your Georgia title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following easy steps:
  1. Always, print (don’t sign) your name on the back of the title where it reads “Transferor’s (Sellers) printed name”.
  2. Secondly, sign your name on the back of the title where it reads “Transferor’s (Sellers) signature”.

How to get a duplicate title for my vehicle

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than Georgia, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state in which the vehicle was titled.The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:
  1. Fill out form MV-1 Title/Tag Application.
  2. Bring the application to your local Tax Commissioner's office
