How to sign your Maryland title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle must complete the following steps:
  1.  Always sign the back of the title where indicated by “Signature of Seller(s)”.
  2.  Second, print (don’t sign) your name on the back of the title where it reads “Printed Name of Seller(s)”.

How to get a duplicate title for my vehicle

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than Maryland, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state in which the vehicle was last titled.The registered owner of the vehicle must complete the following steps:
  1. Complete the online Maryland replacement title form, or
  2. Fill out the Maryland Application for duplicate title form.
  3. Bring your completed application and replacement fee to your nearest full service MVA office.
Please note that there may be awaiting period before a duplicate title can be issued and the cost is $20.00. (Paid to the MVA).
