How to sign your West Virginia title when selling your vehicle

The registered owner of the vehicle should complete the following steps:
  1. First sign the back of the title where indicated by “Signature(s) of Seller(s)”.
  2. Print (don’t sign) your name on the back of the title where it reads “Printed Name(s) of Seller(s)”.
  3. Complete a sold vehicle notice and bring it to your local DMV office.

How to get a duplicate title

If the vehicle was last titled in a state other than West Virginia, you must apply for a duplicate title in the previous state.The registered owner of the vehicle should complete following steps:
  1. Complete the Affidavit of Duplicate Title for a Vehicle or Watercraft
  2. You can do one of the following options:
